Usability Testing the New MyPastest

As part of our development of the new MyPastest revision site, last month we undertook usability testing at the fantastic Space Labs in Media City, Salford.

Getting real exam candidates involved was key, so we enlisted 8 existing customers to become our testers and give us their honest feedback. Past MRCP candidate Anna Moss summed it up succinctly: “It’s important to have customers involved as how will Pastest know what needs to be improved otherwise?”

We were particularly interested in the new site’s ease of use and the clarity of the design. To investigate this, each tester was given a number of tasks to complete that would replicate a real user’s revision experience. They tested navigation throughout the site and worked through questions, videos and podcasts from both written and clinical subscriptions. The testers also had to assess their progress using the updated Performance section of their subscription.

Leeds medical student Abbigail Howson (pictured below left) said, “It was good to help out – as a customer we might pick on things not spotted by the Pastest team”.

Josh Storrar (pictured below right), a previous MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 candidate, said, “I’m a fan of the current site anyway but it was good to be involved. I’m particularly keen to see how the new app looks too”.

undefinedPastest Development Manager Damon Hampson said, “It was great to spend time with our customers and get their first-hand opinions on the new Pastest revision site. Our team has been working tirelessly on developing what we believe to be major advancements in the design, usability and function of the site and the positive feedback we received during these usability sessions has been very encouraging.”

A huge thanks to our 8 usability testers – we’re really grateful for all your feedback. The beta version of MyPastest will be available for all subscribers to test in the new few weeks, so watch this space for more details!
