The Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) is an internationally recognised postgraduate qualification for doctors specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology. The MRCOG examination is divided into three parts: Part 1 assesses foundational scientific knowledge relevant to the specialty through multiple-choice questions; Part 2 evaluates the application of clinical knowledge, decision-making and patient management through Single Best Answer (SBA) and Extended Matching Questions (EMQs); and Part 3 assesses practical clinical skills, communication, patient safety and professional competencies through a structured clinical assessment. Successful completion of all three parts is required to achieve MRCOG membership, demonstrating the knowledge and skills expected of a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology.
