Brain

The frontal, parietal, occipital and

The midbrain, pons and medulla

Inferiorly

Ear

The pharyngotympanic (eustachian) tube

The malleus, incus and stapes. They transmit vibrations

The semicircular ducts, utricle and saccule

Eye

Orbicularis oculi

The tracecular network

The internal carotid artery, distal to the cavernous sinus

Heart

The right atrioventricular (tricuspid) valve contains 3, whilst the left atrioventricular (bicuspid) valve contains 2

Right atrium and ventricle, sinu-atrial and atrioventricular nodes, interatrial septum and part of the left atrium and ventricle

Near the opening of the coronary sinus

Intestine

First (or proximal) part of the duodenum. It is the site of most duodenal ulcers

Superior mesenteric artery (from the abdominal aorta)

Cecum. It is suspended from the ileum by the mesoappendix

Kidney

Between L1-2. The right renal artery passes behind the inferior vena cava and right renal vein to the slightly lower right kidney.

Left renal vein

Each kidney is roughly three vertebrae in length and are located between T12 to L3, although the right kidney is usually slightly inferior due to the presence of the liver.

Liver

Right and left hepatic artery, which are branches of the common hepatic artery (from the coeliac trunk)

The liver is composed of small functional units called hepatocytes

Falciform ligament. The fissure for ligamentum venosum and ligamentum teres on the visceral surface.

Lungs

Vertical fashion (therefore increased risk of inhaled foreign bodies in the right lung)

10

The thoracic carina is located at approximately the IV/V thoracic vertebra

Pancreas

Tail of the pancreas (before it passes through the body and head of the pancreas)

The pancreas contains exocrine cells, which produce digestive enzymes, and endocrine cells, which secrete hormones such as insulin and glucagon

The splenic artery, derived from the coeliac trunk, supplies the main aspect of the pancreas whilst the head of the pancreas is supplied by the superior and inferior pancreaticoduodenal arteries, derived from the gastroduodenal and superior mesenteric arteries, respectively.

Stomach

Pyloric canal

The oesophageal branches from the left gastric artery and the left inferior phrenic artery from the abdominal aorta

The cardia, fundus, body and pylorus
