Pastest Partners with You Okay, Doc? for a Night of Inspiration and Giving at the 2025 Sizer Gala: Raising over £55,000

A Powerful Celebration of Community, Connection, and Mental Health Advocacy

Pastest was honoured to once again partner with You Okay, Doc? for the 2025 Liz Sizer Gala, marking our third consecutive year as headline sponsor. Held at the stunning Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, the Gala brought together clinicians, educators, leaders, and advocates for an evening dedicated to championing mental health and wellbeing within the healthcare profession.

This extraordinary annual event continues to honour the legacy of Dr. Liz Sizer, a respected consultant anaesthetist whose tragic death by suicide inspired the founding of You Okay, Doc? and a wider movement for compassionate, accessible mental health support across healthcare.

A Night Led by Inspiration, Purpose, and Community

Hosted by the ever-engaging Manley Hopkinson, the Gala set the tone for an evening filled with reflection, connection, and collective commitment. His warm leadership reminded everyone why this mission matters and why coming together as a community creates real and lasting impact.

The 2025 Gala featured an incredible line-up of speakers whose insights resonated deeply:

Tom Mitchell – YOD Patron

Tom Mitchell is England’s former Rugby Sevens Captain and led Great Britain to an Olympic silver medal at Rio 2016, a bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, and silver at the World Cup Sevens in San Francisco. Despite a lengthy injury lay-off, he returned to international competition and has been a consistent presence on the World Series circuit. He is now the host of the YOD POD. At the Gala, Tom brought practical and relatable perspectives on building resilience, navigating pressure, and normalising conversations around mental health.

Lt Col Ben Caesar – Ambassador, T&O Consultant

Lt Col Ben Caesar is a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a uniquely varied career. A two-time graduate of Sandhurst, he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps and has deployed internationally, including Afghanistan, South Sudan, and during the UK’s largest evacuation from Afghanistan in 2021. He is founder of the Chavasse Clinic, supporting veterans and service personnel, and a founding member of the British Orthopaedic Association Wellbeing Group. Ben shared powerful reflections from the clinical front line, highlighting the importance of vulnerability, awareness, and peer support, and inspiring safer, more compassionate workplace cultures.

Dr. Dan Gearon – Founder, You Okay, Doc?

Dr. Gearon reflected on the continued growth of the YOD community and the transformative power of collective action in supporting healthcare workers’ mental health.

Each voice amplified the same resounding message: by standing together, sharing openly, and supporting one another, we can drive meaningful change in healthcare wellbeing.

"Find your community, connect, talk with peers, take part in activity that helps yourself & others, look for purpose that aligns with your uniqueness..." - Dr Mental Health

One of the highlights of the evening was a silent auction that proved to be an incredible success, raising an impressive £10,000. However, the impact was doubled as the event collaborated with Big Give, a non-profit charitable site that allows donors to discover and support charity projects, turning the initial sum into a staggering £20,000. This financial boost will play a crucial role in expanding You Okay, Doc?'s reach and enhancing the support services offered to those in need.
