Pastest, the UK’s leading online medical revision resource, has partnered with mental health charity You Okay, Doc? in an industry first initiative to support the healthcare community.
Statistics from the General Medical Council show that 63% of trainees and 52% of trainers are at a moderate or high risk of burnout. Dr Daniel Gearon founded You Okay, Doc? in 2019. Supported by psychotherapists and business professionals, their vision is to eradicate the stigma associated with mental health in the healthcare community, reframe the conversation and thereby reduce mental illness. Their mission is to enable medical students, doctors and nurses to seek support, speak freely about mental health and be equipped to manage the inevitable occupational pressures faced.
Dr Gearon, the charity’s CEO, said: "This partnership is really exciting - it's the beginning of a great relationship! There's a lot of natural overlap for both organisations - we are thrilled to be working closer with Pastest to provide and create awareness for mental health and wellbeing support available to its users."
Ross Duncan, Pastest’s CEO, said: “Preparing for exams is very stressful, even more so when balancing with long and tiring hospital shifts. There is a high risk of mental fatigue for our students. So alongside ensuring our resources are as effective as possible, we want to go that extra mile and offer support for our users who are finding things hard.
“You Okay, Doc? offer a comprehensive service that I’m sure our users will find incredibly beneficial to both their career development and general wellbeing.”
For 50 years, Pastest has been supporting medical students and doctors from across the globe with their preparation for critical exams and tests. Alongside the company's mission to empower the doctors of today and tomorrow, it also recognises the importance of mental health awareness and has partnered with You Okay, Doc? to ensure Pastest users are supported throughout their career. The partnership includes two co-branded podcasts, The YOD Pod and The Student Dose, as well as a 24/7 free and confidential SMS support service.
